THE WARRIOR
The promise of power
is the promise always kept.
I am already given to the power
that rules my fate.
I cling to nothing,
so that I will have nothing to defend.
I have no thoughts so I will see.
I fear nothing, so I will remember myself.
Detached and at ease,
I will dart past the Eagle
to be free.
Choosing warriorship is really not a choice at all.
Even though we may delude ourselves into believing it is possible to understand and control a decision to follow the bird of freedom, that choice is merely another reflection of a mystery beyond our conscious control.
It is power that leads us to the path of knowledge
and the most any of us ever do is acquiesce to its designs.
The business of coming to power
is simply not a doing that can be manipulated.
Warriors understand this and approach
the path of knowledge
as an incomprehensible not-doing.

Rather than struggling to gain mechanical control
over their avenue to power,
warriors command the essence
of their travels by not controlling anything.
In this sense, choosing warriorship is more
an act un unconditional release
than an act of conditional control.
The abstract order of knowledge is beyond
the grasp of any man or woman and
warriors free themselves by accepting
this fact with sobriety and ultimate humility.

If you want to become straight, let yourself be crooked.
If you want to become full, let yourself be empty.
If you want to be reborn, let yourself die.
If you want to be given everything, give everything up.”
“Do you have the patience to wait till your mud settles and the water is clear?
Can you remain unmoving till the right action arises by itself?”
